The September SMR for the unlocked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US comes with firmware version N98*U1UEU3FVI5. The phones are getting some system stability improvements along with last month’s vulnerability fixes. According to Samsung’s security bulletin, the September SMR patches around 50 vulnerabilities, including issues with Photo Editor, Video Editor, System UI, Call Background Provider, Telecom Application, and other system components, apps, and services. All of these fixes have already rolled out to Samsung’s last Note series phones pretty much everywhere, including the carrier-locked units in the US. Perhaps, as said earlier, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have already received the October SMR in most markets. But for some reason, the Korean firm delayed last month’s security update for the unlocked units this long. It is finally rolling out. If you’re using an unlocked Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US, the September SMR should be available to you anytime now if it hasn’t already. As usual, the update will be rolled out over the air (OTA) in batches and may take a day or two to show up for everyone. You will be notified once the OTA package becomes available for your unit. You can tap on the notification to download and install the update. Alternatively, Samsung lets you manually check for updates from the Software update menu in the Settings app.
