What is Mastodon?

In case you aren’t familiar with Mastodon, here’s a quick Refresher. Back in 2016, a developer created a microblogging site as an alternative to Twitter. Now, because of all the drama surrounding Twitter and its acquisition by Elon Musk, a ton of people have flooded over to Mastodon. Now, Mastodon is gaining popularity as people are migrating over. You can sign up for a mastodon account today if you’re curious about what it has to offer that Twitter doesn’t.

The Vivaldi browser is gaining Mastodon integration

At this point, Mastodon is a pretty big news item in the tech space. So, this is a great opportunity for a companies to capitalize on this. According to Techradar, the Vivaldi browser is adding Mastodon to its browser for better access. Vivaldi says that it’s the first browser to have Mastodon support. The company has a stance against big business judging by its comments. It’s a browser for people who are tired of “big tech social networks and their lock-in algorithms.” We can’t really fault them on that front, as the algorithm seems to cause more harm than good. Because of this, the Vivaldi browser has introduced Vivaldi social. This is a social media experience powered by Mastodon. You’ll be able to access the Vivaldi Social server by using the browser sidebar.  When you open it, it will open in a split-screen view. Not only are you able to open the Vivaldi Social instance from the sidebar, you can also open any instance of Mastodon from the sidebar. This is some heavy integration between the two companies, and they hope that this will further increase Mastodon’s growing grip on the social media landscape.
