There are roads out there that are just more prone to car accidents than others. Whether they’re easily congested with traffic or they’re in a bad geographical location. These roads lead to countless deaths over the year. This is why it’s important to know these roads and avoid them. According to GeekTime, Waze is beta testing an alert system that will warn people about roads that are more prone to accidents. Since it’s being beta tested at the moment, there’s no telling when this feature will make it to the world. Right now, it’s being tested in middle eastern countries.

Dangerous roads will be red in the Waze app

The app will warn you about dangerous roads in two ways. Firstly, when you’re approaching the road, you’ll get a push notification. The notification looks like it will also tell you the length of the road. This is so you know how long you’ll be in the dangerous zone. Next, you’ll see the dangerous roads on the map screen colored red. This choice seems fitting as, in Israel, highly accident-prone roads are referred to as “Red roads”, and this is one of the countries involved in the beta test. So, seeing the red roads is a great indicator of where the dangerous roads are.

When it comes to how many notifications you’ll get, the app doesn’t want to overwhelm you. If you’re entering an area with several red roads, you’ll only get one notification. This is a good call, as getting several notifications could cause a distraction leading to car accidents. You can see the irony there, can’t you? What’s neat about this feature is that the alert will also tell you why this road is dangerous. It will give you a short description.
