Do not disturb is a feature native not only to Android devices. It simply blocks off all notifications that come in at select times a user sets. Once this feature is on, notifications from applications do not come into the devices, hence giving the user time to focus on other activities without any disturbance. Although it serves a good purpose, it might make users miss certain vital messages and calls. Currently, there is no way to tell when a call is missed due to the do not disturb mode being active, but all of that is changing. With a coming update to WhatsApp, users will be able to tell what calls they missed thanks to do not disturb.

Here is how the coming feature will alert users of missed WhatsApp calls while using do not disturb

It is good to note that this feature will only be available to users receiving the call. The caller will not be able to tell that the recipient missed their call due to the do not disturb mode being active. According to the beta testers of this feature, the prompt will come along with other missed calls on WhatsApp. On Android, the calls section of WhatsApp is accessible by swiping twice to the left. It can also be got to by just tapping on “calls” at the top of the application interface. This section of the application shows the user’s call history, all missed calls will also be displayed here.  Do not disturb missed calls on WhatsApp will come with an identifying tag that reads “silenced by do not disturb.” Also on the callers chat page there will be a prompt that reads “missed call………while on do not disturb.” This will help the recipient understand why they didn’t get the call notification. If there is a need, the recipient can also explain to the caller why they didn’t pick up with a simple screenshot of the call history page.
