At the moment, you can post photos, videos, text messages, and GIFs to your WhatsApp status. That may change soon, though, as voice messages seem to be coming as well.
You may be able to upload a voice message to your WhatsApp status
You’ll either be able to record or upload voice messages to your WhatsApp status. This information has been provided by WABetaInfo, as it found some evidence of the feature. These messages would be shared with your WhatsApp contacts. In other words, the same privacy settings you have set up for your status photos and videos would apply to this as well. These voice messages will also be end-to-end encrypted, of course. If you check out the image below, you’ll see the screenshot WABetaInfo shared. You can clearly see the voice icon on the right, and you will, presumably, be able to use that icon to record a voice message for your status as well.
Regular voice messages have been available in WhatsApp for years
Now, voice messages are not exactly new for WhatsApp, not at all. The company has been offering voice message support for years. You can send voice messages to your contacts without a problem. Having that in mind, this shouldn’t be too much of a task for WhatsApp, as the company already has the groundwork done. We may see this feature make its way to WhatsApp in the near future. Do note that the feature is not yet available in beta either, so we’re likely in for a bit of a wait. Also, status voice messages will likely be limited in terms of duration, you won’t be able to rant for an hour.
