The Xiaomi 12 series will be first to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as expected
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as most of you know by now, is Qualcomm’s brand new flagship processor. That chip got announced yesterday, and even though Qualcomm released less information than it usually does, we still got some information about it. That is a 4nm mobile processor, that comes with a 30-percent faster GPU. It will support 8K HDR video recording, camera systems up to 108 megapixels, and it will include a 10Gbps 5G modem. The chip is also expected to offer 20-percent performance improvements, along with 30-percent improvements in power efficiency. This SoC will also be better when it comes to power saving, compared to its predecessors, up to 25-percent better. You can read more about it here. That being said, the Xiaomi 12 series will launch in December. Those won’t be the only smartphones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC to launch in December, though. Motorola is also expected to announce its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship, and perhaps some additional companies.
Two Xiaomi 12 handsets are expected to use this SoC
Two Xiaomi 12 smartphones are tipped to utilize this SoC in December, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Ultra. That is not something Lei Jun confirmed, but those are the two rumored smartphones. We don’t have a lot of information about them, to be quite honest. Not much has surfaced thus far, Xiaomi managed to keep both devices under wraps, up to this point, at the very least. Chances are that we’ll see some information soon, though. The Xiaomi 12 series is expected to arrive in early December. Do note that the devices will launch in China first, and they may not go on sale immediately. Those phones will arrive in global markets, but we’re not sure when exactly. Xiaomi may host that event in December as well, or wait until January.
