Both the Xiaomi 12 Ultra & OSOM OV1 will utilize the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

A confirmation for Xiaomi comes from Lei Jun, the company’s CEO. He let everyone know via Twitter. Do note that he did not specifically confirm the Xiaomi 12 Ultra name, but he did say “Xiaomi’s next flagship”. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is the company’s rumored flagship for H2 this year. So… yeah, that’s almost certainly the device in question. Xiaomi is not the only company that is working on a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 smartphone, though. Amongst the companies that confirmed their devices are coming is also OSOM. OSOM, for those of you who don’t know, is a company founded by the team behind the Essential Phone. OSOM gave us a glimpse at the OSOM OV1, its first smartphone, at the very end of last year. That device is expected to launch this year, and the company did confirm it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

Both of these devices will be immensely powerful

Both the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and OSOM OV1 will be powerful smartphones, needless to say. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a flagship processor, so it makes all the sense in the world. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is manufactured by TSMC, and it comes with some notable improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It comes with 10-percent better performance, and 30-percent better power consumption. That chip is expected to offer better battery life, hence giving OEMs more room to work with. On top of all that, it’s expected to offer better thermals than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. More information regarding the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and OSOM OV1 will likely surface soon, so stay tuned.
