Samsung started shipping its phones without an in-box charger last year. The Galaxy S21 series was the first to come sans the power brick. The Korean firm has since removed the charger from all its flagship products, including the expensive foldables. However, all this while, it continued to bundle one with its budget and mid-range offerings. Unfortunately, it’s about time we move on. This was bound to happen, and it happened today. The Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, and Galaxy A73 5G will ship without a charging adapter. So unless you have a spare charger lying in your drawer, you’ll have to shell out a few extra dollars for one. Note that all three models support 25W fast charging, so you’d want to go for one with as much power output. Samsung‘s latest mid-range offerings lack the 3.5mm headphone jack as well. To use your existing wired headphone, you’ll have to buy a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter. That’s unless you have or are getting a pair of wireless headphones.

Many people might bemoan the lack of essential accessories in the box, but if you look beyond that, the Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, and Galaxy A73 5G fit Samsung’s “Awesome” billing pretty well. The devices have a lot going for them. You’ve got powerful processors, advanced cameras, big and bright AMOLED screens, big batteries, faster charging, and the latest Samsung software — One UI 4.1 based on Android 12. Samsung has even committed to offering the trio four generations of Android OS updates. Yes, that’s as much as the Galaxy S22 series flagships. The new devices will get updates up to Android 16. The Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G are going up for pre-orders today itself. But only the latter is coming to the US, as things stand. The device costs $449.99 for the 128GB storage variant. Customers who pre-order the Galaxy A53 5G from Samsung.com will get a free pair of Galaxy Buds Live, which normally costs $169.99. Samsung’s also offering two months of YouTuber Premium and six months of SiriusXM Streaming for free with the phone.
