Before Google Play Music was shut down in lieu of YouTube Music, it had a feature that a lot of people found useful. It was a timer that you could use to stop music playback at a specified time. It was the sleep timer, and it was useful if you knew you were going to be away from your phone or if you were going to be asleep. This way, the music wouldn’t play all day or all night. This was great for people who were using their cellular data.

YouTube Music could bring sleep timer

With any luck, this feature might actually make its way over to YouTube Music. The folks at 9To5Google (via Android Police) were able to find a string in the latest version of the YouTube Music app that points to this feature. This could happen, but there’s still a chance that Google will take this feature out of the app in the future. five minutes cancel timer These strings were accompanied by an XML file named res/layout/timer_status_bottom_sheet.xml. These could point to a sleep timer feature that will stop the music playback at a certain time. For the time being, there isn’t a feature such as that on YouTube Music. The songs will play until the app reaches the end of the queue. Since neither Google nor YouTube made any announcements about this feature, we’ll have to wait and see if it will actually roll out. Hopefully it does, as having a sleep time is a really useful feature.
